Marsh Marigold | Caltha palustris
Marsh Marigold is an early spring riser, often blooming while snow is still in the forecast. It loves spring seeps where soil temperatures remain cool throughout the growing season. Not suitable to warm water conditions as summer dormancy will occur. Care should be taken not to discard summer dormant plants. If temperatures are extreme for extended periods they may not survive. Prefers a cool climate and moving water. 12" tall with a mounding habit in 1-2" deep of water. Zone 3-7. Warmer than Zone 7 it must be in a spring-fed cold water source to survive.
