Water Poppy | Hydrocleys nymphoides | Potted
Water Poppy (Hydrocleys Nymphoides) is sold sometimes as a bareroot floater but responds better if you pot it in just a bit of soil. Place plants in moderately fertile aquatic soil in pond margins in areas that are 6-10” below the water level. Your pot may also be placed up to 12" deep. Best growth usually occurs in approximately 6” of water. Plants sited in pond margins will spread out onto the water and it does well mixed with taller plants to conceal containers just barely submerged on ledges. A great place for frogs to hang out. Warm water required, water temps should be constantly 65 or better. A favorite food of turtles. Zone 9.
